2023 TMA Recipients

After fifteen years of celebrating the Best Performance Awards for community musical theatre, ARTS FOR LIFE decided to expand its recognition of Bi-State area theatre to include outstanding achievements in non-musical productions by community theatre groups. Thus the Theatre Mask Awards were created and are now in their 9th year. These awards for non-musical plays are presented at a celebration sponsored by ARTS FOR LIFE in the first quarter of the year following the plays production.  
 

Nomination and selection of the community theatre awards are done by a special committee, i.e., the Theatre Recognition Guild, made up of theatre critics, drama teachers, professional performers or artists, members of community theatre groups, and people who just have an avid interest in theatre. This committee reviews each of the theatrical productions as an audience member and scores each participant in each category.   
 

Theatre groups within a 35 mile radius of Clayton, Missouri who hold open auditions for non-paid actors are invited to participate.

2025 Best Performance & Theatre Mask Award participation forms are now available. Groups wishing to have their productions judged in 2025 need to fill out the forms 8 weeks prior to opening night.
